Polypropylene (PP) FDY yarn is widely used in industrial applications such as webbing, sewing thread, rope, fishing nets, and construction reinforcement fibers.
The performance of PP FDY yarn depends greatly on the spinning process. Different from POY production, which requires an additional drawing process, a PP FDY spinning machine integrates spinning, drawing, heat setting, and winding into one continuous roduction line.
Through precise control of polymer flow, drawing speed, and temperature, the machine produces high-strength polypropylene filament yarn with low shrinkage and excellent stability.
The basic production process includes:
Chips→ extruder→ extruding head →melt pipe with static mixer→ spinning beam with oil heating → quenching chamber → oiling system → feeding roller → five pairs of hot godet rollers→ inter lacing jets→ take-up winder →final product
First, polypropylene pellets are melted and converted into a uniform polymer melt through the extruder. The melt is then filtered and delivered to the spinneret to form continuous filaments.
After cooling and solidification, the filaments enter the drawing section. Multiple heated rollers stretch the yarn at controlled speeds, allowing polypropylene molecules to orient along the fiber direction.
This one-step drawing process is the core advantage of FDY technology, improving:
· Yarn strength
· Dimensional stability
· Shrinkage performance
· Production efficiency
The main difference is the drawing process.
POY process:
Spinning → POY winding → External drawing
FDY process:
Spinning → Drawing → Heat setting → Winding
By completing spinning and drawing in the same production line, PP FDY technology reduces additional processing steps and provides more consistent yarn quality.
High-performance polypropylene FDY yarn is widely used in:
Webbing and Narrow Fabric
For safety belts, luggage straps, and industrial tapes.
Industrial Sewing Thread
For woven bags, packaging materials, and industrial sewing applications.
Rope and Fishing Net
For lightweight and durable marine and agricultural products.
Construction Reinforcement Fiber
For synthetic fibers used in concrete reinforcement.
